Diabetes makes it hard to turn the food intake into energy because of too much glucose in our blood.  Glucose comes from the food that we eat, so it is the main source of energy for our body.

It is very important that we take those foods which balance our body glucose and provide energy as per our body requirements.  Diabetics need to eat those food items which have low glycemic index (GI), rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals, etc. Below are the basic guidelines for a diet plan that will help you to control the blood glucose:

⚫ Divide your meals in small parts.
⚫ Try to take all your meals at the same time every day.
⚫ Do not miss your meals
⚫ Try to add multi items, which are full of carbohydrates, minerals, and fiber in your meals.

Meal Time: Early morning

You can have:

⚫ 6-7 Almonds

⚫ 1-2 Walnuts

Meal Time: Breakfast

You can have:

⚫ 1 bowl oats

⚫ Milk

⚫ 2 Egg slices

⚫ Multigrain bread

⚫ Vegetables

⚫ Curd

⚫ Toast

Meal Time: Morning Snacks

You can have:

⚫ You can add seasonal fruits including papaya, coconut and buttermilk etc.

Meal Time: Lunch Menu

You can have:

⚫ Salad, Vegetables, Dal, Chapatie, Curd, Rice, Paneer Chicken etc.

Meal Time: Evening Snacks

You can have:

⚫ Fruits, less oily food items like dhokla, idli, Veg-snacks, roasted, namkeen and murmura etc.

Meal Time: Before Dinner

You can have:

⚫ Mix Vegetable soup

Meal Time: Dinner

You can have:

⚫ Chapati

⚫ Vegetable

⚫ Dal/ Chicken

⚫ Green Salad
